ANALYSIS OF CATEGORY AND SUBJECT ROLE IN NEWS TEXT “ACEH RAIH GOLS AWARD UB HALALMETRIC 2025”

Abstract
This study aims to analyze the roles and categories of subjects in a news text titled "Aceh Wins Gold Award at UB Halalmetric 2025." The research adopts a descriptive qualitative method. Descriptive research is employed to systematically and accurately present phenomena, facts, or events, while the qualitative approach is conducted through a case study in which the researcher acts as the primary instrument. The data source is the news text itself, with the data consisting of words or phrases functioning as subjects in the sentences. Data were collected using a read-and-note technique. The research steps involved reading the text thoroughly, understanding its content, identifying subject words or phrases, analyzing their grammatical roles and categories, and drawing conclusions from the analysis. The results show that the subjects are categorized as nouns, nominal phrases, pronouns, personas, and clausal nouns, and function as agents, patients, results, themes, and causers. These findings reflect consistent syntactic patterns in the sentence structure of the news text, in line with its communicative purpose.
